Spicy Chocolate Cupcakes with Walnuts

These chocolate cupcakes with a spicy frosting are sure to become your favorite December treat. They taste like heaven. Condensed milk and the butter make these muffins extremely moist. You can really taste the chocolate cut by the walnuts. Moist, chocolatey and nutty…Topped with spicy frosting. I don’t know what more a muffin could ask for.


  • 2 cups flour,
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup sugar,
  • 1 cup condensed milk,
  • 1 cup sugar,
  • 150 g butter,
  • 1 cup crushed walnuts,
  • 2 eggs,
  • 1 1/2 cup milk,
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/3 tsp baking soda,
  • pinch of salt


  • 16 ounces mascarpone cheese, softened,
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened,
  • 2 cups confectioner’s sugar,
  • 1 tbs vanilla paste,
  • 1 tbs instant coffee
  • few tbs warm milk,
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger,
  • 1/2 tsp ground all spice,
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • pinch of salt


  1. Preheat the oven to 356° F. Line muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, coca powder,  baking powder and baking soda.
  3. In another bowl, combine sugar, with butter.
  4. Add milk, condensed milk and eggs.
  5. Beat on medium speed.
  6. Add walnuts and gently stir.
  7. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Mix until evenly distributed.
  8. Fill each prepared cupcake liner about 3/4 full.
  9. Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes.
  10. Remove to a wire rack and let cool completely before frosting.


  1. Beat the mascarpone and cream cheese on medium speed until fluffy.
  2. Add the powdered sugar, beat on low until smooth.
  3. Dissolve coffee powder in a few tbs warm milk.
  4. Beat in vanilla extract, coffee mixture, all spice, cinnamon and ground ginger and a pinch of salt just until incorporated.
  5. Spread the frosting over cooled cupcakes.
  6. Decorate with lime slices
